Next term, Mr. Nysse is creating an advisement club thingy for creative writing, partially due, I believe, to my persuasion, enthusiasm, and 'I know a lot of people who'd be interested's. (You're welcome.)
It's every Thursday, and I'd like anyone who can to join. I understand that many teachers have only Thursdays available for their advisement classes, but if you need help in a certain subject, it's not like they're the only teacher that teaches it.
Anyone is welcome to join! Let's fill it up with canaries, shall we?

I can't go today, but next week I'll definitely hop aboard the wagon. For my Girl Scouts Gold Award, I was thinking I wanted to create like a creative writing club (since there's no actual class ), and the only thing was I didn't know if there was a teacher willing to supervise. But now I've found one! XD I'm going to talk to Mr. Goz today to see what I have to do to make it an official 'club', because I know tons and tons of people who'd be interested.

Seriously? They don't offer that where you're from?
What's it even like there, then? How does school work in Britain? I've read a bit about it, but never come across a personal account.

Maybe I'll plan an event for that soon. If anyone else that is not too lazy to do it right this moment would like to, be my guest.

Just keep in mind the time change (Krista's six hours ahead). We could do it right after school one day? What time does everyone get home? Or there's always the weekend.

Haha! The writing club my school runs are for the lower years, not mine. They think it's quite childish, I suppose, so they don't offer it to older students. The lower years are 7 (age 11-12) and 8 (12-13). The older years are 9 (13-14), 10 (14-15) and 11 (15-16). We do GCSE's in year 11, which is one of the most important qualification you'll need. After year 11, you can leave school, or stay on to do 6th form for two years, in which you do your A-levels. They get you into university. (While I can't take my GCSE's early with my school, I plan to leave my school in the next year and hire a tutor to help me take mine early. This is quite uncommon to do, but there are stories of children who've taken their GCSE's aged 11- here, we've got a boy who took his GCSE's aged 11 and A-levels aged 13, so he's now in uni- aged 14!!! With some luck, I'll be into university by 16. Hopefully. ) We have to wear uniforms, not our own clothes- my uniform, at the moment, is a knee length pencil skirt, blouse, tights, and a baggy blue jumper with one grey stripe round the collar and a grey blazer over the top. It's seriously uncommon to come across a school where you don't have to wear school uniforms- consider yourselves lucky! School rules mean sensible shoes, no makeup (haha. I'm in an all girls school; they've got no chance!), no nail varnish, hair tied up at all times and no skirts shorter than knee length. No rings, earrings, necklaces or anklets are allowed. We have five lessons a day, and start at 8:45. We have 15 minutes for break, and half an hour for lunch. We get off of school at 3:05, but my school ends earlier than most schools. This is because we have an earlier start (most schools start at 9) and an earlier finish (most schools run 3:30-3:45) and less of a lunch. My school is an all girls, and you've got a school in my area which is all boys. These are called single-sex schools, or all boys/girls. We have schools which teach both boys and girls (co-ed) and private schools (also, for god knows what reason, called public schools. It's confusing), which are usually single-sex but we've got a few who're co-ed. Um... what else would you like to know? Do you have single-sex schools or are they all co-ed? What do you call private schools, do they have to wear uniform? I'd love to do a skype call! But the problem comes with computers- my laptops sound thingie is broken. You'd see me, but couldn't hear me Does anyone here have facebook? I'm listed as Krista N Nelms, and my profile pic is a horse drawing.

Goodness me! That seems very complicated. ._.
For us, there are usually three schools: elementary school, middle (or sometimes "junior high") school, and high school. There's also preschool, which is for three and four-year olds. I remember just fingerpainting and napping.
Elementary school goes from kindergarten to fifth grade, for a total of six years. Middle school is shorter, only from sixth grade to eighth grade. High school is from ninth grade to twelfth grade. I think I've said so before, but you're usually called a freshman in 9th grade, a sophmore in 10th, a junior in 11th, and a senior in 12th. After high school, some people go on to get jobs, but others go to college (which is a lot like uni, from what I've seen). College usually goes two or four years, but some people, like doctors, go for longer. College applications are usually sent by students in 12th grade. You can apply to as many as you want, but can only go to one if they accept you. Most colleges look at your grades and extracurriculars to choose who goes in and who doesn't.
There are very few single-sex schools, at least from what I've heard. Most private schools do involve a uniform, though not /nearly/ as strict as yours seems to be. XD I think just the clothes are mandatory and the rest (hair, makeup, etc.) is okay. The school I go to does not have uniforms.
I sent you a friend request. :> Look for Cassie Zimdars.

I'll add you on FB.
In America, there are school 'districts'. Every district has one or more elementary schools (Hamilton, which is ours, has several), which is for grades K-5. (K stands for Kindergarten, for ages 5-6, and then you go on to first grade, second grade, etc.) What we call 'grades' are almost equivalent to what you call 'years'. What you call 'marks' are also something we call 'grades'. The districts also have one or more middle schools (grades 6-8). We have only one middle school, which is Templeton, and our high school, Hamilton (grades 9-12) is right next to it. Most of the people on this board are in grade 9.
High school is, by far, the best and worst. Elementary school sucked for me, because pretty much everyone hated me (especially the teachers, who tried and sometimes failed to at least respect me) for no reason in particular except for Bridget & co., who you know as Red Fez. Bridget was/is neighbors with Cassie, (livelove1337). Cassie was in my Kindergarten class, too, so really I've known her for most of my life. It was 5th grade that I decided I wanted to be an author.
Middle school was 10x worse, because, well, think about it. You take a bunch of kids all going through puberty at the same time and mush them together. Who the hell thought that would be a good idea? I also went through an excessively morbid stage in which I wrote a myriad of dark, horribly written poems in order to find myself, which I ended up doing eventually, thank God. 8th grade sucked because I hated everyone in pretty much all of my classes, and everyone was so immature, and I was such a pompous dickhead because of it, and just, ugh. I'm glad that's over.
High school is nice because you're granted freedom and responsibility, and the people are a little more mature. Not to mention all the extra opportunities you get, and the fact that you can drive to school at age 16. The teachers are easier to relate to as well, especially if you hate kids like I do.
Single-sex schools, as far as I'm aware, are very uncommon. I've heard of Catholic all-girls/all-boys schools, but that's about it. The dress codes here are very lenient. Tanktops are allowed as long as the straps are at least a half inch, and short shorts are supposedly banned, even though the halls are filled with them in the warmer months. Public schools usually don't have uniforms. Piercings are allowed, makeup is allowed (and very common). The final bell that signals the start of the school day rings at 7:20am, and we're dismissed at 2:25pm. Most schools have 7-9 classes a day, each around an hour, but we have four classes a semester, and two semesters.
You're lucky to not have to get to school until quarter to nine in the morning. If I'm not at my bus stop by 6:45, I'll most likely miss the bus, and in turn miss a day of school and get my laptop taken away for being irresponsible.
Oh, and we have nicknames for high school grades. 9 - Freshman 10 - Sophomore 11 - Junior 12 - Senior
I can't think of anything else to say about it. Questions?

Wow, at College at 14?! Granted, it's a bit different school system than ours, but that's still amazing. Same with 16! I do hope you make it. Yey! A skype thing would be super fun. Aw no! Maybe we could type our messages, then.
